From the Pit Lane
11 March 2006 – Kyalami

Different track, different car, same driver, same results: as in Cape Town on the 12th of February, Heyns Stead “triumphed” by winning on Index in his MGA (no. 21), just like he did in Cape Town with Spyder. Heyns proved once again that you have to first finish to finish first.
Nico Klein with his MGB GT (no.67) was very busy, having entered both the Marque Car race and the Sports & GT race. He finished 18th in a field of 26 in the Marque Cars.
Next time you’re at the track, look out for young Carl van
Ass (in a gold MGB GT no. 22), who’s getting beter with every race. Could the color have something to do
with
it?
The
powers that be deemed it fit to group the Sports & GT cars with the Pre ’77
Historic cars for the first heat, which made a for a full grid of 53
starters. However, they changed their
minds later in the day and grouped the Sports & GT guys with the Pre ’66
& Pre ‘72 bunch. In the first heat,
Franco Resco (MGB GT no. 135) gave a number of Historic drivers a good run for
their money, but suddenly the car “made a noise” and they limped across the
line in 35th place. Franco
decided to sit heat 2 out but Nico kept the MG NC banner flying high by finishing 12th overall at the end
of the day.

Post mortem at the end of the day…
Till we see you in the pit lane next time, keep up the MaGic.
